  • Overview

     

    The overall purpose of this job is to ensure that end users receive appropriate, targeted training regarding the use and function of Electronic Health Record (EHR) applications through ensuring that training reference materials are operationally appropriate and providing periodic direct on-site Level II support. This position periodically audits through direct observation and record review the use of the system to ensure that workflow data elements are captured to ensure compliance with state and federal reporting requirements.  This position ensures security and access control of all staff with EHR access to ensure that the proper positioned staff is given appropriate access to Protected Health Information (PHI) or confidential information.  Supports and lives out Immanuel’s Mission and CHRIST Promises.

    Key Responsibilities and Duties of the Job

    Training and Support

    • Ensures that educational materials (Validation Support Tool - VST’s and Validation Based Training - VBT’s) are operationally appropriate and meet the workflow needs.
    • Responsible for publishing and updating training materials, as needed.
    • Provides periodic, direct on-site and virtual support/training to assure correct EHR functions are being followed.
    • Assists with new release or change management testing activities.
    • Provides Level II support to end users, documenting and escalating issues as needed.

    Data Integrity and Compliance

    • Periodically audits through direct observation and record review the use of the system to ensure that workflow data elements are captured to ensure compliance with state and federal reporting requirements. Makes recommendations for changes as a result of the audit.
    • Understands all configurable areas of the software functional limitations.         Collaborates with analysts to test functionality and make recommendations for configuration changes based on operational needs.
    • Responsible for the monitoring and assuring compliance with local, state and federal regulations including confidentiality of records in compliance with HIPAA.         Must maintain current knowledge of changes in compliance that may impact workflow.
    • Maintains all workforce clearance related documentation.
    • Determines the security and access control of all staff with EHR access to ensure that the proper positioned staff is given appropriate access to Protected Health Information (PHI) or confidential information.
    • On-call as needed for EHR or production related emergencies.

    • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

     

     

    Qualifications

     

    Education-

    • Associates Degree in Business, General Studies or related field is preferred.
    • Equivalent years of experience may substitute for education requirement.

    Experience-

    • Two (2) to four (4) years direct experience in the use of an electronic health record to provide patient care.
    • Two (2) years experience training the use and function of EHR applications to end-users or related experience is preferred.
    • Previous work experience as a Nurse Aide, Medication Aide, Medical Assistant, or LPN is ideal.
    • Equivalent years of education may substitute for experience requirement.

    Other Requirements-

    • Must be computer proficient and possess experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and programs specific to the job.
    • Maintain strict confidentiality of personnel data, proprietary information, and sensitive materials as required.

    • Ability to recognize data integrity issues.
    • Ability to comply with privacy and security policies.
    • Ability to collaborate with a variety of audiences to arrive at solutions.
    • Ability to recognize functional areas of software and apply to operational requirements.
    • Ability to quickly learn specific software and new applications.
