  • Overview

    The floor technician is primary responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of public areas, staff offices, and patient rooms. Also responsible for, quality and timeliness of cleaning. Supports and lives out Immanuel’s Mission and CHRIST Promises.

    Key Responsibilities and Duties of the Job

    Floor Responsibilities

    • Cleans and disinfects patient rooms and public areas as assigned daily following established procedures.
    • Conducts all cleaning activities and operates all equipment in a safe and efficient manner as prescribed in the departmental training sessions.  Ensure cleanliness of areas of responsibility.
    • Reports all building and/or furniture maintenance requirements to the Environmental Services Team Lead.
    • Attends all meetings and training sessions as required.
    • Maintains established department policies, procedures and objectives, concerning quality assurance, safety, environmental conditions and infection control.
    • Maintains professional attitude with patients, visitors, and other hospital personnel while assuring confidentiality of patient information.
    • Participates in all safety, security and infection control programs that are mandatory as well as those required and provided by the department.
    • Demonstrates work practices consistent with Immanuel and department-specific safety, security and infection control policies.


    • Stocks cleaning cart.


    • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.




    • Completion of grammar school or equivalent preferred.



    • One (1) year of housekeeping experience is required.

    Other Requirements-


    • Valid driver’s license may be required.

    • Knowledge of basic cleaning procedures and products used to most efficiently clean specific areas.
    • Knowledge of how to use cleaning equipment.
    • Ability to operate basic cleaning equipment such as vacuums, mops, and brooms.
    • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
    • Skills in identifying and removing stains.
    • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
    • Ability to be physically active throughout entire shift.
    • Ability to use time and resources effectively.
    • Skills in using floor cleaning equipment.
    • Ability to exhibit high standards of ethics, accountability, and responsibility.
    • Ability to seek out opportunities to help rather than waiting to be asked.
    • Ability to listen effectively seeking first to understand, then to be understood.
    • Ability to use tact and diplomacy in interactions at all levels.
    • Skills in anticipating the need for others to have information keeping supervisors and co-workers informed as to important activity.
