What You Will Do
The overall purpose of this job is to provide highly effective, culturally humble spiritual care for residents, participants, their families, and staff and to lead Mission-related efforts at each location. The responsibilities of this job include providing pastoral care and counseling and spiritual support services for residents, participants, family and staff. This may include resident visits, Bible studies, chapel services, end-of-life care, bereavement care, and funeral/memorial services as needed or requested. The Pastor also leads efforts to support, teach, promote and live out Immanuel’s Mission and CHRIST Promises.

Spiritual Care | - Provides onsite pastoral care such as worship planning and leadership, preparing and leading studies in Bible, spirituality and related topics, resident visitation, and staff support.
- Provides offsite pastoral care such as visitations to hospitals, rehab centers, skilled nursing facilities, or family members’ homes.
- Provides extended pastoral care such as end-of-life planning and journeying, care conferences, and funeral/memorial planning.
- Provides on-call availability.
- Serves as resource to staff for residents’/participants’ spiritual health as part of whole-person care
- Provides care, instruction and support for staff regarding grief and similar matters

Immanuel Liaison | - Supports and advocates for memorial funds.
- Coordinates with VP Mission/Spiritual care for community outreach, education, and relationship building for Immanuel.
- Serves as point person for Mission- and Vision-related efforts, including new employee orientation and CHRIST Promises Awards
- Engages other Immanuel pastors with collegiality and mutual support

Skills & Requirements
Education-
- Master of Divinity or equivalent degree in related field of study is required.
- At least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education is preferred.
Experience-
- Two (2) years of pastoral or related experience is required.
- Equivalent years of education may substitute for experience requirement.
Other Requirements-
- Ordination in and endorsement by individual’s denominational church body is required.
- Commitment to full inclusivity in providing spiritual care
- Current certification in boundaries training
KSA- Knowledge Skills and Abilities-
- Knowledge of pastoral duties such as worship, visitation, education, prayer, pastoral counseling and community service.
- Knowledge of scripture and spiritual disciplines.
- Knowledge of emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of aging adults.
- Knowledge of end of life care, hospice care and grief/bereavement support.
- Knowledge of and openness to different faiths and ways to provide spiritual care for all.
- Knowledge of and respect for HIPAA and all confidentiality rights of residents/participants.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word and Outlook.
- Skills in creatively providing healthy and enthusiastic workshops and study.
- Exceptional listening and verbal communication skills.
- Skills in dealing with issues of aging including memory support and validation therapy.
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with residents/participants, their families, and staff that reflect the CHRIST Promises values of Compassion, Honor, Relationships, Integrity, Serve and Teamwork
- Ability to recognize and maintain healthy boundaries and professionalism in every
