What You Will Do

The Volunteer Services Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining a dynamic volunteer program that enhances the organization’s service lines. This role focuses on recruiting, screening, interviewing, and placing volunteers in positions that align with both organizational needs and individual skills. To ensure volunteers are well-prepared and engaged, the Volunteer Services Manager develops tailored job descriptions, implements comprehensive training programs, and provides ongoing support. They collaborate closely with Immanuel community/centers and internal staff to develop meaningful volunteer opportunities and foster strong relationships. By leading recognition and appreciation initiatives, the Volunteer Services Manager cultivates a culture of volunteerism, strengthening engagement and driving organizational success. Supports and lives out Immanuel’s Mission and CHRIST Promises.

 

Key Areas

Key Responsibilities and Duties of the Job

Recruitment and Outreach

  • Actively source and recruit volunteers across all service lines through various channels, including community events, social media, and partnerships with local organizations and contracts with existing programs (like Senior Help).
  • Build relationships with communities, centers, and key staff to identify volunteer needs and create mutually beneficial partnerships by assessing need and creating job description for volunteers per location.
  • Work closely with designated staff at each location to facilitate a smooth onboarding process for new volunteers, ensuring they understand their roles and responsibilities.
  • Conduct interviews and skill assessments to effectively match applicants with assignments that leverage their unique talents.
  • Align volunteers with opportunities that reflect their skills and interests while addressing the specific needs of various communities and service lines.
  • Provide continuous support and guidance to volunteers, addressing any concerns or performance issues as needed.
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information and works under deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism. 

 

Program Development

  • Collaborate with leadership to set annual goals for the volunteer program, report on successes, and ensure compliance with grants and state/federal regulations.
  • Partner with staff, participants and residents to understand operational needs and create and implement volunteer programs that meet the interests of the communities or centers.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive initial training programs for new volunteers, along with ongoing training sessions to enhance skills and effectiveness.
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of volunteer programs, gathering feedback to make improvements and enhance the volunteer experience.
  • Investigate and resolve complaints related to volunteer services for assigned care center.

Recognition

  • Organize and implement recognition and appreciation events, awards, and initiatives to celebrate volunteer contributions and foster engagement.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the current recognition program and make necessary adjustments.

 

Administrative Duties

  • Match volunteers with opportunities based on their skills, interests, and the needs of different communities or service lines.
  • Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours, activities, and impact, and prepare reports as needed.
  • Foster a feeling of pride and worth in our volunteers with an emphasis on cultivation, recognition and appreciation.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

 

Skills & Requirements

Education-

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education, or related field.
    One (1) year experience working with seniors general or related work experience is preferred.

Experience-

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and concisely with seniors and diverse staff.
  • Most possess strong volunteer training and Volunteer Management skills.
  • Experienced in managing group volunteer projects, with a passion for seniors.
  • Experience in volunteer coordination, community engagement, or related roles.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with diverse individuals.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic about working with seniors and volunteers.

Other Requirements-

  • This is a physical position with a lot of walking, pushing and lifting.

 

KSA- Knowledge Skills and Abilities-

  • A natural communicator, both written and verbal, ready to inspire others.
  • Skills in use of computers including proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook E-mail.
  • A people person with exceptional interpersonal skills, radiating warmth and professionalism.
  • Ability to multi-task, juggle projects and meet deadlines
  • Interpersonal Skills and Communication abilities.
  • Experience in Community Outreach.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
