Job Duties & Skills Required

What You Will Do

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a vital link between clinical operations, information technology, and leadership to ensure that electronic health record (EHR) systems and other healthcare technologies support the highest standards of care in senior living and long-term care. This role focuses on optimizing clinical workflows, ensuring data integrity, and empowering staff through training and support to enhance resident outcomes and organizational efficiency. This role also ensures that users receive targeted, effective training by keeping reference material accurate and operationally relevant, and by providing periodic on-site support. This position maintains EHR security and access levels to ensure users receive appropriate access to Protected Health Information (PHI) or confidential information.

 

Key Areas

Key Responsibilities and Duties of the Job

EHR Support

  • Integrates clinical expertise with health information technology to improve care delivery and documentation in our communities/centers.
  • Provides support to end users, documenting and escalating issues as needed.
  • Collaborates with training staff and operations to develop educational materials that are operationally appropriate and meet the workflow needs.
  • Assists in maintenance of workforce clearance related documentation.
  • Participate in new release and change management testing activities.
  • Assists in determining security and access levels for all EHR users to ensure that staff receive appropriate access to Protected Health Information (PHI) and confidential information.

Data Integrity and Quality Compliance

  • Act as a resource for clinical teams, ensuring technology use aligns with best practices
  • Collaborate with teams to develop dashboards, reports, and analytics that drive quality improvement and regulatory compliance
  • Performs periodic record audits to ensure user access policies are applied consistently and remains compliant with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Troubleshoot data discrepancies and provide solutions to ensure high-quality documentation.
  • Assists in planning, creating, and implementing systems to assist in streamlining department processes.

Customer Service and Support

  • Serve as the liaison between clinical staff, IT, and vendors to resolve system issues and optimize workflows.
  • Provides periodic, direct on-site and virtual support/training to ensure correct EHR functions are being followed.
  • Provide responsive and user-friendly support to staff, ensuring confidence in technology use.
  • Partner with interdisciplinary teams to identify opportunities for innovation in care delivery through informatics solutions.
  • Builds trust with staff by offering approachable, solution-oriented guidance.
  • Gathers feedback from end-users to improve system usability and workflows, advocating for enhancements when appropriate.

Other

  • Provides after-hours on-call support to address EHR or production-related emergencies as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

 

 

Skills & Requirements

Education-

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Health Informatics, Information Systems, or healthcare related field is preferred.
  • Equivalent years of experience may substitute for education

 

Experience-

  • Clinical or Nursing Informaticist experience is desired.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working in a senior living, long-term care, clinic, or hospital environment where an EHR system was employed is preferred; EPIC EHR experience is highly preferred.
  • Equivalent years of education may substitute for experience

 

Other Requirements-

  • Must be computer proficient and possess experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and programs specific to the job.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of personnel data, proprietary information, and sensitive materials as required.
  • Excellent communication, training, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate across disciplines.
