This is NOT a remote position - candidates must reside in the Omaha, Nebraska area and work from the home office location.

Job Duties & Skills Required

What You Will Do

The overall purpose of this job is to provide support and coordination of information within  the compensation and benefit functions of the Total Rewards department.   The work and volume varies based on daily, weekly, monthly, seasonal timeframes or other intervals directly related to business needs.  This role supports the accurate, timely and regular sources of information necessary for business related compliance, decision making and development of total rewards for the organization. Much of the work is directly related to the support of the employees benefit programs with timely and accurate processing.  The person in this role has a responsibility to ensure that Immanuel’s compensation and benefit programs are consistently administered in compliance with company policies and government regulations. Supports and lives out Immanuel’s Mission and CHRIST Promises.

 

 

Key Responsibilities and Duties of the Job

Benefits Coordination

  • Coordinate daily benefits processing. Responsible for enrollment, COBRA, termination, life and beneficiary changes, death claims, 401k requests and compliance testing.
  • Oversees and coordinates maintenance of employee benefits files, maintain group benefits and employee payroll records in the Human Resource Management System.
  • Assists in the development of benefit information and census data for actuaries, insurance carriers and management.
  • Assist with the administration of LOA’s in coordination with HR Managers, the employee and Payroll. Processes and regularly communicates with TPA.
  • Verifies the calculation and reconciliation of the monthly premium billing statements for all group insurance policies and maintains statistical data relative to premiums, claims and costs.
  • Coordinates and supports department with plan audits.
  • Assist in the development of communication tools to enhance understanding of the company's benefits package.  Coordinates information with vendors to edit, proof and process design information. Responsible for distribution of materials for benefits orientations, open enrollment and summary plan descriptions.
  • Using UKG, sets up new benefits codes, groups and open enrollment and life-event sessions.

Compensation Administration

  • Administrate compensation and performance processes including merit increases, market adjustments, goal setting and quarterly conversations.
  • Assist with the education of leaders and employees about Immanuel’s compensation philosophy and practices, base pay, bonus and incentive plans, and indirect compensation programs utilizing current internal and external market data. Makes recommendations to leaders on pay decisions, equity questions, policy and guideline interpretation.
  • Assist with the design and delivery of a comprehensive compensation and training communication plan for managers and staff.
  • Responsible for job analysis, marketing pricing, job description creation and updates.  Assists with the creation and management of incentive plans.
  • Develop and implement creative solutions to specific compensation issues or challenges.
  • Ensure stakeholders are kept informed during large projects or

departmental/job family reviews.

  • Monitor effectiveness of current programs in terms of DOL,

EEOC and FLSA for compliance, fairness, cost efficiencies and trends.

  • Complete benchmark surveys for benefits and salary data by gathering needed information from a variety of sources.  May review information in question with analyst or manager prior to submitting results. Organizes and manages survey library.

Compliance

  • Works with manager, coworkers and vendors in preparation and processing of reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies such as Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, insurance commissioners, and other regulatory agencies. 
  • Keeps apprised of federal, state and local benefit and compensation and related laws in order to ensure compliance.  Attends education events and reads vendor resources.
  • Ensures compliance and regulatory deadlines are met.

Other

  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

 

Skills & Requirements

Education-

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources or related field is required.
  • Equivalent years of experience may substitute for education requirement.

Experience-

  • One (1) year of Human Resource or related experience is required.  Experience in the benefits or compensation disciplines of HR preferred.
  • Equivalent years of education may substitute for experience requirement.

Other Requirements-

  • Human Resource related certification is helpful.
  • Experience or knowledge in healthcare or senior living services is helpful.

 

KSA- Knowledge Skills and Abilities-

  • Must have operational knowledge of Ulti-Pro or related HRMS system.
  • Must have proven skills in Microsoft office, specifically Excel with ability to develop formulas, pivot tables and charts. Word, PowerPoint and Access skills helpful.
  • Basic knowledge of HR and related benefit laws such as Department of Labor (DOL), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), Affordable Care Act (ACA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA), and Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
  • Ability to work independently and use independent discretion related to benefit decisions and interpretation of contracts, regulations and applicable laws.
  • Ability to work with confidential information and be conscientious regarding the security of such data, related confidential documents and knowledge.
  • Must have proven ability to maintain a high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Skills in communicating both verbally and in writing using tact and diplomacy in interactions at all levels.
    • Oral Communication – speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, demonstrates an attitude of teamwork.
    • Written Communication - edits work for spelling and grammar, presents numerical data effectively and is able to read and interpret written information.
  • Skills in organizing information, work, dealing with frequent changes, and managing competing demands using time efficiently and develops realistic action plans.
