Immanuel Communities is seeking a Human Resources Business Partner to work within our three (3) Des Moines, Iowa retirement living communities and centers - Copper Shores Village, Deerfield and Pathways Central Iowa.

 

Pay will be based upon experience, certifications, skills and education.

Job Duties & Skills Required

What You Will Do

The overall purpose of this job is to impact company performance by providing tactical and strategic consulting on people and organization development strategies in support of the business objectives and strategic initiatives of the organization. HRBPs will support a people first philosophy by focusing on relationships, engagement, leadership development, talent, and change management.  The HR Business Partner will work closely with the Immanuel Leaders to ensure that the people strategies in each location and service line are achieved through the Christ Promises and the Leadership Principles of Immanuel resulting in the overall Immanuel culture in the location. The HR Business Partner maintains an effective level of business literacy about the organization’s objectives, the business units they support, strategies, culture and competition.

 

Key Areas

Key Responsibilities and Duties of the Job

Employee Experience

  • Works closely and collaboratively with HR Centers of Excellence, legal/compliance, and home office and locations leadership teams to provide strategic guidance and support to address workforce challenges, people strategies, engagement, and the employee experience
  • Collaborates with location leadership to develop people focused goals that connects the dots between key data metrics
  • Monitors employee retention and turnover.  Will work closely with leadership to identify creative and impactful ways to reduce turnover and increase retention
  • Supports leadership/Executive Directors in communicating and presenting strategic plans impacting human capital. Including change management and working to gain buy-in from managers and employees
  • Coaches and supports managers with and resolves complex employee relations issues
  • Works closely with leadership and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase engagement and retention
  • Analyzes trends, metrics, business and employee needs in partnership with others to develop solutions, programs and develop policies and procedures
  • Supports the onboarding process of new hires

Talent Management

  • Works with Executive Director/Immanuel Leader to create a talent strategy for their community/center/business line, including but not limited to organizational development, leadership development needs, training needs, succession planning and staffing and recruitment needs. Will also work with managers to identify talent needs for individual departments
  • Provides performance development guidance to managers (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)
  • In collaboration with Total Rewards and the manager, offers guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning
  • Advises and collaborates with HR Centers of Excellence of business unit development and training needs 
  • Collaborates with Managers to identify individual coaching needs at all levels
  • Works with the HR Centers of Excellence to develop, plan and facilitate training for staff. Supports and participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to support reporting and ensure training objectives are met
  • Collaborates with leaders and Talent Acquisition team to create recruitment plans for open positions
  • Works with Community/Center leadership to identify staffing needs

HR Compliance

 

  • Assist leaders with operationalizing, interpretation, and ensuring compliance around HR policies
  • Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance 
  • Ensure compliance of state and federal employment laws and regulations
  • Support leaders in unemployment processes and documentation
  • Educates managers in employment law compliance
  • Collaborates with HR Centers of Excellence to support employees and leaders with leaves and workers comp situations

Other

 

  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested

 

Skills & Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree required, with a concentration in Human Resources is preferred.

Equivalent years of experience may substitute for education requirement.

Experience-

Four (4) years of Human Resources Business Partner or related experience is required.

Other Requirements –

Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification is preferred.

Reliable transportation meeting all state vehicle requirements is required as this position will require travel between locations.
